Intensive Home-Based Treatment (IHBT) Therapist

Salary Range: $65,000+

About the Role

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Intensive Home-Based Treatment (IHBT) Therapist to provide therapeutic services directly in the homes and communities of children, adolescents, and families. In this role, you’ll manage a shared caseload of 8–12 clients, working closely with an IHBT Care Coordinator to deliver intensive, evidence-based interventions to families facing significant mental health challenges.

This position is ideal for clinicians who thrive in flexible, community-based environments and value building deep, meaningful relationships with clients and families.

What You’LL Do

Direct Client Services

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify client and family strengths, needs, and challenges.
• Gather information on family dynamics, living situations, and support systems for treatment planning.
• Deliver intensive home- and community-based therapeutic interventions.
• Utilize evidence-based modalities such as family therapy, CBT, and trauma-informed care.
• Participate in the IHBT on-call rotation to provide telephonic and in-person crisis intervention.
• Coordinate with crisis teams—including hotlines, mobile crisis units, and psychiatric emergency services—during emergencies.

Administration

• Complete all required documentation accurately and within departmental timelines (e. g., progress notes, service plans, discharge summaries).

Collaboration

• Work closely with case managers, psychiatrists, and other internal/external providers supporting the client.
• Advocate for clients by consulting with community resources and interdisciplinary teams.
• Attend required agency and departmental meetings.

• Provide services aligned with IHBT fidelity standards, including:
• Treatment intensity
• Flexible scheduling & service locations
• Crisis response
• Safety planning
• Trauma-informed practices
• Caseload expectations
• Continuing care planning
• Participate in training, supervision, and professional development to maintain licensure and IHBT compliance.

Fiscal Responsibility

• Ensure service delivery and documentation meet departmental fiscal requirements.

Other Duties

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring

Education & Licensure

• Master’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage/family therapy, or a related field.
• Ohio licensure required: LPC, LSW, LMFT (preferred: LISW, LPCC, IMFT).

Experience

• At least one year of clinical experience serving children, adolescents, and families involved with child welfare or juvenile justice.
• Experience in mental health settings; home-based/community-based experience strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong assessment and clinical formulation skills.
• Knowledge of evidence-based treatment models and trauma-informed practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Adaptability and comfort working in client homes and community settings.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Work Environment

The IHBT therapist will primarily work in clients' homes and community settings, providing services where clients feel most comfortable. The role will involve traveling to various locations within the designated service area. The therapist will collaborate closely with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and integrated care. Flexible scheduling may be required to accommodate clients' needs, including evening and weekend hours.
