The Med-Peds Physician provides comprehensive, high-quality primary and preventive healthcare services to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. As a physician who is board certified in both Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, the incumbent diagnoses, treats, and manages acute and chronic medical conditions across the lifespan while supporting the mission of Jane Pauley Community Health Center (JPCHC).

The Med-Peds Physician collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver patient-centered care, promote population health, improve clinical outcomes, and ensure compliance with all applicable clinical, regulatory, and quality standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients from infancy through older adulthood.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic illnesses across all age groups.
  • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and health assessments.
  • Provide preventive healthcare services, including routine screenings, immunizations, and wellness counseling.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications and other therapeutic interventions as appropriate.
  • Coordinate care with specialists, hospitals, behavioral health providers, and community resources.
  • Deliver physician services in accordance with organizational policies, evidence-based standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain full-time physician coverage as required by practice operations.
  • Participate in managed care, Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payer programs designated by JPCHC.
  • Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and quality improvement efforts.
  • Provide after-hours and on-call coverage as assigned.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation within the electronic health record.

Clinical Leadership and Supervision

  • Provide clinical oversight and medical direction to non-physician providers and clinical staff as appropriate.
  • Assist in the education, development, and mentoring of clinical team members.
  • Support onboarding and orientation activities for newly hired providers.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff regarding medical policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Quality Improvement and Population Health

  • Participate in quality assurance, quality improvement, utilization review, and clinical pathway initiatives.
  • Monitor and support efforts to improve patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical protocols.
  • Participate in performance improvement projects, committees, and task forces as assigned.
  • Support organizational initiatives related to population health management and preventive care.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable licensing, accreditation, regulatory, and payer requirements.
  • Assist with clinical documentation improvement and revenue cycle initiatives as appropriate.
  • Provide input regarding practice operations, workflow efficiencies, staffing needs, and clinical processes.
  • Support the organization's Quality Assurance and Utilization Review programs.
  • Assist in maintaining a fiscally responsible and operationally efficient practice environment.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Community Engagement

  • Support the mission of JPCHC through participation in community outreach and health promotion activities.
  • Participate in health education initiatives and community programs as requested.
  • Represent JPCHC professionally within the community and healthcare network.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical supervision and oversight of non-physician providers and clinical personnel as assigned.
  • May participate in provider recruitment, orientation, training, and clinical mentoring activities.

Required Qualifications

Education

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.

Licensure and Certification

  • Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Indiana.
  • Current DEA registration and controlled substance authority.
  • Board Certification in Pediatrics required.
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine required.
  • Maintenance of all certifications and continuing medical education requirements.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Experience

  • Experience providing primary care services preferred.
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), community health center, academic medical center, or similar healthcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pediatric and adult medicine.
  • Ability to diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions across the lifespan.
  • Knowledge of preventive medicine, population health, and evidence-based clinical practices.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, accreditation, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients and families.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems and clinical documentation.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and patient-centered care.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout a clinical environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to utilize standard office and medical equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
