Key Responsibilities

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner provides direct care for infants in the neonatal unit in collaboration with neonatologists, maintaining expertise in assessment, treatment, and management of ill newborns. Responsibilities include performing routine clinical procedures independently, coordinating care practices, and integrating education, research, and leadership into clinical practice.

Requirements

Candidates must complete a master’s, post-master’s, or doctorate from an accredited neonatal nurse practitioner program and hold current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing. Required credentials include a current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances and NNP certification, with anticipation of additional certifications like NRP, BLS, and PALS.
