Job description

First Responder Wellness provides compassionate, specialized mental health care to support the well-being of first responders and their families.

We are seeking a Licensed or Associate Therapist to provide individual, couples/family, and group therapy while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver client-centered, culturally responsive care.

The ideal candidate is a skilled clinician who understands—or is eager to learn—the unique culture and challenges of first responders and can build trusting, respectful therapeutic relationships.

Schedule: Sunday to Thursday

Key Responsibilities

* Maintain and manage an assigned caseload of consistent clients.
* Oversee and support the overall treatment experience of assigned clients.
* Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments at admission and reassessments as clinically indicated.
* Conduct mental status examinations and ongoing clinical evaluations.
* Develop appropriate treatment recommendations based on clients’ history, presenting concerns, symptoms, and clinical needs.
* Provide individual, couples/family, and group psychotherapy.
* Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans.
* Provide crisis intervention and appropriately assess and respond to clinical risk.
* Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.
* Complete Additional Sessions Requests and other required clinical documentation.
* Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and collaborate as an integrated member of the treatment team.
* Demonstrate respect for and sensitivity to the cultural, professional, and lifestyle diversity of clients and staff.
* Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, families, and colleagues.
* Adhere strictly to HIPAA and all applicable patient confidentiality requirements.
* Maintain knowledge of current legal and ethical standards related to professional practice, mandated reporting, professional boundaries, and related clinical requirements.
* Participate in quarterly staffing and clinical team meetings.
* Participate in the Critical Incident Response Team on an ongoing basis.
* Assist with equine-assisted therapy and related programming as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned in support of First Responder Wellness and its mission.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Current California registration or licensure with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, AMFT, ACSW, or APCC.

Minimum of two years of experience evaluating and/or treating individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use concerns.

Ability to meet all applicable California clinical, ethical, and documentation requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working with first responders, public safety professionals, military personnel, veterans, or their families.
* Familiarity with the occupational culture and unique mental health challenges faced by firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and other first responders.
* Experience providing trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and/or group therapy.
* Experience working within an interdisciplinary behavioral health or treatment setting.
* Interest or experience in equine-assisted therapy is a plus.

Requirements
