We serve the populations of Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties through a wide variety of targeted programs for individuals of all ages.

Staff Psychiatrist The Psychiatrist serves as a key clinical leader within the psychiatry team and NKHS, providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management services for children, adolescents, adults, and families with behavioral health and co-occurring substance use needs.
This role combines direct patient care with interdisciplinary collaboration, consultation, and program development activities that support whole-person, integrated healthcare.
The Psychiatrist delivers evidence-based, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care while partnering closely with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, primary care providers, and community stakeholders to improve access, quality, and outcomes.
This position offers the opportunity to practice at the top of licensure, influence clinical programming, mentor behavioral health professionals, and help shape innovative service delivery models that advance the organization's mission and community impact.
Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, risk assessments, and ongoing medication management services. Diagnose and treat mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders utilizing evidence-based, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented approaches.
Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications, including evaluating treatment effectiveness and managing side effects. Provide individual psychotherapy, supportive counseling, and other psychiatric treatment interventions as clinically appropriate.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment teams. Participate in integrated care initiatives and collaborate with primary care providers, specialty providers, and community partners to support whole-person care.
Provide psychiatric consultation, clinical guidance, and education to therapists, nurses, care coordinators, and other clinical staff. Participate in and, as needed, lead case conferences, treatment team meetings, utilization reviews, and other clinical consultation activities.
Engage individuals, families, and support systems in treatment planning, education, recovery support, and coordination of care. Support crisis intervention, safety planning, and psychiatric consultation for individuals experiencing acute behavioral health needs.
Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs, policies, treatment protocols, and best practices. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, outcomes measurement, accreditation activities, and compliance with organizational, state, federal, and CCBHC standards.
Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation, medical records, reports, treatment plans, and other required records necessary for effective clinical operations and reimbursement.
Maintain current knowledge of psychiatry, addiction medicine, integrated care, and emerging evidence-based practices through ongoing professional development. Promote a culture of patient-centered care, clinical excellence, diversity, equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Provide testimony, affidavits, and professional opinions in judicial or administrative proceedings as required.
Qualifications Completion of a residency training program in psychiatry and two years of post-residency experience as a psychiatrist in a psychiatric facility required. Possession of a valid license as a physician required. Initial acceptance may be based on licensure as a physician in another state; licensure as a physician in this state is required prior to appointment.
