Job Description

Our Roots

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony represents descendants of three Great Basin Indigenous peoples: the Numu (Northern Paiute), Newe (Western Shoshone), and Washeshu (Washoe). These communities lived in harmony with the land for generations before European contact, following seasonal cycles and forming small, efficient social groups for survival.

Each group's name means "The People" in their own language, reflecting their deep cultural identity and connection to the Earth. They maintained strong traditions, respected neighboring tribes, and engaged in trade throughout the region.

Today, the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony continues to honor these traditions while supporting the well-being, culture, and future of its tribal community.

The Opportunity

As a Family Physician, you'll deliver comprehensive outpatient care for adult and pediatric patients, helping community members maintain and improve health through evidence-based primary care.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Conduct patient and family interviews; coordinate with specialists and care team members
  • Review and interpret clinical findings to develop diagnoses and treatment plans
  • Provide treatment and urgent interventions; administer medications and monitor patient response
  • Educate patients and families on preventive, curative, and rehabilitative care
  • Prescribe medications and make referrals as clinically appropriate
  • Maintain confidential records and complete timely computerized documentation and billing
  • Participate in audits, peer review, committees, and accreditation activities
  • Partner with clinical/support teams to improve access, quality, and patient satisfaction

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited program
  • Current Nevada medical license
  • Completed accredited residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine & Pediatrics
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills; effective English communication; ability to lift 10 lbs repetitively

Apply today to bring high-quality primary care to our community.

A Typical Clinic Day

Your day runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 a. m.–5:00 p. m., in an onsite outpatient setting. You'll move through a steady clinic rhythm-reviewing schedules and chart updates, seeing a mix of pediatric and adult patients, and coordinating in real time with nursing, support staff, and specialty partners.

Between visits, you'll keep notes and billing data current so care decisions and follow-up plans stay clear and timely. As needs arise, you'll help the team respond to same-day concerns and ensure patients and families leave with understandable next steps.

You'll also have periodic touchpoints tied to quality initiatives-such as peer review or audit follow-ups-focused on strengthening access, experience, and continuity of care.

Your Benefits

We offer a benefits package designed to support your health and time away from work, including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage; a 401(k) plan; Life Insurance; and Paid Time Off.

Please Note: Hiring preference is provided to qualified members of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Reno-Sparks Indian Colony requires any designated candidate to complete a pre-employment criminal background check, drug screen, and confirmation of professional references.
