We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and recovery-focused Transitional Counselor to join our Young Adult Services (YAS) Residential Program. The Young Adult Services (YAS) Residential Program provides supportive residential services to young adults living with mental health and co-occurring challenges.
The program focuses on helping participants develop the skills, confidence, and resources needed to successfully transition to independent living, while promoting recovery, community integration, education, employment, and personal growth. This is a part-time, 16 hours per week position.
Schedule
Saturday and Sunday 3pm-11pm This position is designated as Onsite Essential Staff and is required to report to work during inclement weather and other emergency situations. Candidates must reside in Connecticut to be eligible for this position.
What You'll Do
As a Transitional Counselor, you will provide individualized support and rehabilitation services that help residents achieve their recovery and independent living goals.
Responsibilities Include
Support individuals in developing and implementing personalized recovery plans and goals. Build strong therapeutic relationships while fostering independence, self-confidence, and self-advocacy.
Utilize recovery-oriented approaches, including Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed Care, and Person-Centered Planning. Provide crisis intervention and support during behavioral health emergencies. Connect residents to clinical, educational, vocational, recreational, and community resources.
Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, assessments, and electronic health records. Assist with transportation, appointment coordination, and community-based activities. Monitor resident safety and well-being while promoting a supportive and structured living environment.
Qualifications
Associate degree or two years of college education in Human Services, Behavioral Science, or a related field preferred; OR High School Diploma/GED with at least two years of direct care experience in a behavioral health residential setting.
Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and/or co-occurring disorders preferred. Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approaches is a plus. Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Valid Connecticut driver's license with an acceptable driving record required. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
What We Offer The anticipated salary range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour. Actual compensation offered will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, and internal equity considerations.
