Job Description
Location: Waco, Texas
Status: Part-Time
Schedule: Minimum of 4 shifts per month, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts based on coverage needs. Standard clinic hours are 8:00 AM–8:00 PM, seven days a week.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Part-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team in Waco, Texas. This role is ideal for clinicians who value flexibility, autonomy, variety, and meaningful community impact while practicing in a fast-paced, well-supported urgent care environment.
This position requires a minimum commitment of four shifts per month, with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts when coverage is needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
- Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs and imaging
- Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, splinting, wound care, and other applicable procedures
- Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
- Code and bill services appropriately
- Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
- Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Board certification:
- PA: NCCPA certification
- NP: ANCC or AANP certification; FNP required
- Active DEA license or ability to obtain
- Ability to treat patients of all ages
- Active BLS certification
- EHR proficiency
- Ability to commit to a minimum of four shifts per month
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and holidays
- DOT certification or willingness to obtain; applicable fees covered
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
- Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care
- Experience with initial X-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read
- Comfort working independently in a fast-paced clinical setting

Candidates must hold an active, unrestricted Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with relevant board certification. Applicants are required to have an active DEA license, BLS certification, and the ability to work a minimum of four shifts per month.
