Job Details: Job Location: The Cove School - NORTHBROOK, IL, Salary Range: $34800.00 - $34800.00Salary/year, Part-Time Occupational Therapist 2026 - 2027 School Year Start Job Summary: The Cove School occupational therapist provides needs-based occupational therapy services to support students’ participation, independence, and success across the school environment.

The role includes, but is not limited to, individual and small-group occupational therapy; direct and indirect consultation with students, teachers, and families; assessment of students’ functional, sensory, motor, and executive functioning needs; development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized intervention plans; classroom-based support and accommodations; and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to promote students’ engagement, regulation, independence, and access to learning.

Pay & Benefits: * Salary starting at $34,800: (salary is commensurate with education, licensure and experience) * School Breaks, 7.5 sick and 2.5 personal days * Tuition Reimbursement for continuing education * Professional Development Opportunities Schedule: * Part-time * 2026-2027 School Year (10 Month Contract) * Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 12:00 pm or 3 Full Days a Week * Five Week Extended School Year Program optional Requirements: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program Current State of Illinois registered occupational therapist licensure; OTR/L Experience working with children and adolescents in a school, pediatric, or therapeutic setting preferred Experience supporting students with complex learning needs preferred Strong understanding of sensory processing, executive functioning, self-regulation, and their impact on students’ participation and learning Experience with providing staff professional development Duties & Responsibilities: Evaluate students’ functional needs, including activities of daily living (ADLs), self-regulation, sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, and other areas of occupational performance using formal and informal assessment methods Translate assessment results into individualized occupational therapy programming and develop, implement, and update IEP goals, accommodations, and related services Provide individual, small-group, and classroom-based occupational therapy services to support students’ participation, independence, regulation, and access to learning Select and utilize appropriate occupational therapy methods, materials, equipment, and creative strategies to address individual student needs Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals through ongoing data collection, therapy notes, progress reports, and other required documentation Collaborate with teachers, classroom assistants, social workers, speech-language pathologists, administrators, and other clinicians to integrate occupational therapy strategies into students’ educational programming Consult with staff regarding sensory processing, self-regulation, ADL development, motor skills, and other occupational therapy-related needs Educate and support students and families in understanding learning differences, identifying strengths and areas for growth, developing realistic goals, and building self-advocacy skills Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, student meetings, team meetings, and multidisciplinary problem-solving Coordinate with families, private therapists, and outside agencies to support continuity of care and services Provide recommendations regarding adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and classroom supports Maintain current knowledge of occupational therapy research and evidence-based practices and apply this knowledge to student programming About Us: The Cove School is a non-public therapeutic day school for students with learning disabilities located in Northbrook, IL.

Cove students come from 60 nearby different public schools and families can also choose to fund tuition privately. Classes are kept small. Teaching is flexible and varies according to the individual student’s learning style.

A team of onsite specialists work collaboratively to provide students intensive, integrated related services.
