How you’ll contribute
A Clinical Pharmacist Who Excels in This Role
- Manages drug therapy protocols as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Reviews, interprets and evaluates medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential or actual drug related problems.
- Provides drug information and education to medical staff, healthcare professionals, and patients, and pharmacy students.
- Documents interventions and their outcomes for use in drug therapy quality improvement efforts.
- Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and completeness prior to order entry.
- Checks for accuracy after being filled by technicians.
Maintains adequate knowledge of pharmacy automated systems and computer software.
- Accurately and appropriately issues controlled substances to patient care areas.
- Corrects and attends to all discrepancies with controlled substances as required by law.

What We’re Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Licenses: Valid pharmacy license from the state of West Virginia
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) to be obtained within 30 days of hire
- Experience: Preferred - One to 2 years as a licensed pharmacist with enhanced clinical responsibilities.
- Required Skills: Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department Leadership ability, integrity, and initiative required. Ability to solve problems effectively and handle stress in a positive manner. Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and all hospital department.

Key Responsibilities
The Clinical Pharmacist manages drug therapy protocols and evaluates medication orders to ensure patient safety within an interdisciplinary team. They also provide drug information to staff and patients while maintaining accurate records of interventions and controlled substances.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and a valid pharmacy license from the state of West Virginia. One to two years of clinical pharmacy experience is preferred, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
