Position Description
The Counseling Center within the Division of Student Affairs is seeking to hire a Psychologist IV. The Psychologist provides therapeutic services to students including individual, group, and couples counseling, psychological assessment and crisis intervention and also provides outreach to the campus community at large. Additionally, this position supervises practicum students providing many of these same services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide triage; initial assessments; crisis management; and individual, group, and couples counseling to students, in-person and via telehealth and provide psychological assessments as necessary
Prepare and maintain records, evaluations, and reports in an accurate and timely manner, in accordance with professional, legal, and ethical standards using the department’s software
Consult and collaborate with Campus Health Services providers, Student Affairs staff, various University departments, and third-party agencies as necessary
Provide clinical supervision to at least one graduate trainee, including supervision of assessments and practicum students
Provide outreach services at University resource fairs, signature University events, and scheduled college and class presentations
Serve on divisional and University-wide committees to collaborate with other offices, schools, and colleges to advance the department’s outreach initiatives
Assist with other division initiatives and operations such as freshman orientation, Welcome Week, and resident move-in events
Perform other duties and complete special projects as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Licensure to function autonomously in Kentucky or aligned to obtain Kentucky licensure within 12 months of hire
- Four (4) years of experience in a clinical or counseling setting inclusive of practicum work
- Experience working at a college counseling center or community agency, inclusive of conducting psychological assessments
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience providing clinical services to students and working on a college campus
Ability to provide oversight of departmental programs including coordination of scheduling with staff group leaders, collaboration with other departments on marketing and communication initiatives, and coordination of off-site workshops
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, administration, faculty, staff, students, employers, and the general public
- Proficient using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)
- Experience using Titanium scheduling software
Please note that any selected candidate's hire date may be effective no earlier than January 5, 2027.
Work Hours and Location
This is a full-time, exempt position with a 37.5-hour regular workweek. Additional work hours may be required based on department needs, programming, staffing, and/or scheduling. This position works at the Belknap and Health Sciences Campus. Occasional overnight travel (for professional development or conferences) may be required.
