Limbo Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse with advanced training as
a physician extender. The Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with a
physician to provide medical services within protocols established by the
supervising physician. Such medical services may include history and physical
exams, treatment of specific illnesses or injuries, both chronic and acute. The
Neonatal Nurse Practitioner may perform other services that have traditionally
been reserved for physicians.

Responsibilities

Works under the medical direction and supervision of a licensed physician to
provide medical services at Centra facilities

Functions as an expert practitioner in the area of specialization, maintaining a
current and relevant knowledge base in the field

Performs history and physical examinations, including history of present
illness, review of systems, past medical history

Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's
age-specific needs

Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments

Attends high risk deliveries, evaluates neonates condition, implements plan of
care

Completes progress notes, collaborates with patients' physicians to provide
holistic care

Serve and care for our patients, customers, and each other. Respond to
customers, wants and needs in a positive manner

Serves a major role of patient's advocate in the medical care system serving as
confidant, advisor, and liaison between patient and physician

Provides patients and families with education and support

Promote department efficiency and improvement. Is dependable, punctual, and

workload independently. Help team members. Share knowledge with team members.
Build positive coworker relationships

Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with physicians and staff in other
departments

Provides formal staff education as requested and informal education as needed

Participates on committees which focus on improving patient care by improving
delivery of care

Identifies unit quality problems and initiates and implements improvement
outcome measures

May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be
modified or updated at any time

Qualifications

Required Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with a minimum of
a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)

Required Experience: Minimum of five (5+) years of progressive experience in an
area of specialization

Required Certifications and Licensures: Current licensure by the Virginia State
Board of Nursing as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Maintains BLS and NRP
Certifications. Hold a current, active license as a registered nurse in Virginia
or hold a current multistate licensure privilege as a registered
nurse. Nationally recognized certification in field of specialization
