Job Description
Specializes in the emergency diagnosis, surgical fixation, and reconstruction of severe musculoskeletal injuries, including high-energy fractures, pelvic/acetabular trauma, polytrauma, nonunions, and malunions.
Key Responsibilities
Surgical Care: Perform emergency and elective surgeries (ORIF, external fixation, intramedullary nailing, pelvic/acetabular reconstruction).
Trauma Call: Provide coverage for emergency rooms and trauma bays, treating limb-threatening emergencies (compartment syndrome, open fractures, vascular injury).
Patient Management: Direct inpatient rounding, ICU consultations, and outpatient follow-up care to optimize bone healing and rehabilitation.
Collaboration: Coordinate surgical timing and recovery plans with general trauma, neurosurgery, vascular, and critical care teams.
Compliance & Quality: Maintain clinical documentation, participate in Trauma Quality Improvement (QI) and M&M conferences, and mentor residents/fellows (if academic).
Qualifications & Requirements
Training: Accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency + Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship.
Licensure & Certification
- Board Certification or Eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS/AOBOS).
- Current ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification.

Requirements
Candidates must have completed an accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency and an Orthopedic Trauma fellowship. Board certification or eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery and current ATLS certification are required.
