About Public Schools Partnerships

TLC’s Public School Partnership Program provides support for deaf and hard of hearing students in mainstream public school settings to advance academic and developmental progress.

Position Summary

Provide consultations and direct services to students who are deaf and hard of hearing in public school settings.

SUPERVISOR: Director and Associate Director of Public School Partnerships

Functions and Responsibilities

PSP staff work independently within our partnership school districts across the state of Massachusetts. Our team members consult with school-based teams, general educators, special educators, administrators, as well as their assigned students and families under the supervision and mentorship of the program director and associate director.

Provide technical support to students using hearing assistive technology, both soundfield and personal systems, in the classroom as well as their school based teams. HAT systems vary depending on the type and degree of hearing loss as well as if/what type of technology the child uses.

PSP team members provide functional listening evaluations as well as appropriate recommendations based on the student’s individual needs, hearing levels, classroom dynamics, and student observations. They are also critical members of IEP and/or 504 meetings.

Provide in-services to help school-based professionals understand the implication of hearing loss on accessing the curriculum.

PSP students primarily utilize spoken English for communication in their educational placements. Staff must feel comfortable to provide services to those students in spoken English.

Maintain compliance with all required documentation.

Perform other tasks as assigned by the Department Supervisor and/or Program Leader.

This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

TLC embraces and celebrates a spirit of inclusion and diversity, and reasonable accommodations and modifications will be made whenever possible.

Requirements

A Degree in Audiology (Masters, AuD), 6 or more years of experience as a pediatric audiologist and licensure from the Board of Registration of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology -- Strong candidates with less experience are encouraged to apply

Access to reliable transportation as the role is itinerant, reimbursement for mileage is given on a monthly basis

Ability to work independently and manage time/own schedule, while meeting productivity benchmarks

Strong Technical Literacy Is Expected

All work (scheduling, report writing, record-keeping) is completed using an online medical record system

As the PSP students use spoken English as their primary (and often only) language, fluency in American Sign Language is not required -- ASL is the language utilized on the TLC main campus, so a willingness to learn is expected as some departmental meetings and in-service trainings do occur on campus

ASL Classes may be required based on ASL fluency
