Job Description
Inova Loudoun Hospital Radiation Therapy is looking for a dedicated PRN
Radiation Therapist 2 to join the Team. This role will be working PRN day-shift
Monday - Friday as needed by the department.

Radiation Therapist 2 PRN Responsibilities
* The Radiation Therapist 2 communicates effectively with patients, families,
medical staff, healthcare team members, supervisors and outside contacts.
Responsible for treatment modalities and protocols to accurately set-up and
administer radiation treatments on a daily basis.
* Maintains accurate records of daily treatments and other records as required;
Documents any corrections in charts resulting from changes in the originally
prescribed course of treatment.
* Ensures that portal verification films are taken at appropriate intervals;
Recognizes the need for adjustments in treatment ports when comparing
simulation/portal films or patient positions; Prepares immobilization devices
in accordance with physician prescriptions.
* Positions patients for initial definition of tumor volume to be determined by
physicians; Films specified treatment volume for review and approval by
physicians.
* Marks/tattoos appropriate body anatomy for daily re-positioning on linear
accelerator; Documents or captures patient measurements and machine treatment
parameters for dosimetry planning and calculations; Acquires Computed
Tomography machine data sets for patient positioning, contours and set-up
parameters.
* Performs daily quality assurance on linear accelerators, simulators and
Computed Tomography machines to verify accurate output of designated
parameters; Reports erratic operation of equipment to physics; Verifies
operation of emergency shutoffs and interlocks; Reports any discrepancies to
physics.
* Participates or helps with in-vivo dosimetry measurements and special
dosimetry.
* May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Education: Associate degree in Radiation Therapy or Certification.
* Experience: 2 years of experience as a Staff Radiation Therapy department
with experience in linear accelerators and patient simulation
* Certifications:
* American Registered Radiologic Technologist required upon start.
* Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.

The Radiation Therapist 2 is responsible for accurately setting up and administering radiation treatments using linear accelerators and CT machines. They must maintain precise treatment records and perform daily quality assurance on medical equipment to ensure patient safety.
Requirements
Candidates must have an associate degree in Radiation Therapy or certification and at least 2 years of experience in a staff radiation therapy department. Required certifications include ARRT and BLS from the AHA upon start.
