Job Details: Job Location: Agape - Central Office - Memphis, TN, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: Graduate Degree, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services, Agape is seeking a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist to deliver direct clinical and counseling services to students and other clients served by Agape Child & Family Services, Inc. Position Summary The Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist provides hope-centered mental health services to students and other clients served by Agape Child & Family Services, both in person and virtually when appropriate.

The therapist maintains a primary assignment at a local high school while also carrying additional cases within the organization as assigned. Services include individual counseling, psychoeducational groups, crisis intervention as needed, clinical assessment, care coordination, and prevention-focused programming.

Grounded in Agape’s commitment to the Science of Hope, the therapist incorporates hope-centered principles into clinical practice by helping clients identify meaningful goals, strengthen their ability to develop multiple pathways toward those goals, build agency and motivation, and navigate barriers that may impact their well-being and success.

The therapist utilizes strengths-based, trauma-informed, and evidence-informed approaches that promote resilience, well-being, and long-term flourishing.

The therapist collaborates with school personnel, families, caregivers, students, Agape staff, and community providers to address mental health concerns, strengthen protective factors, reduce barriers to academic and personal success, and connect clients and families with additional services and supports when needed.

Through this collaborative approach, the therapist helps create environments where students and families experience greater hope, connection, stability, and opportunity to flourish. This role reports to the Director of Clinical Services. Essential

Responsibilities

Provide direct behavioral health services to students and other clients assigned through Agape, including clinical assessment, individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, and care coordination.

Deliver Tier 1 (universal and prevention-focused programming) and Tier 2 (targeted, short-term therapeutic interventions) consistent with the VCIF grant scope and identified client needs.

Develop and facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups addressing topics such as emotional regulation, coping skills, conflict resolution, grief, trauma, healthy relationships, decision-making, and violence prevention.

Engage parents and caregivers in care planning, referrals, safety planning, and other supportive services when clinically appropriate and authorized. Assess clients’ mental health, behavioral, social, and environmental needs and develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and objectives.

Identify clients who require specialized, intensive, or ongoing services and coordinate referrals to appropriate Agape programs, community-based providers, crisis services, or higher levels of care. Respond to client needs in accordance with clinical, legal, ethical, grant, and Agency protocols.

Complete risk assessments, safety plans, mandated reports, consultations, and referrals as appropriate.

Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, group services, caregiver contacts, referrals, consultations, crisis interventions, and discharge or transition plans.

Maintain a consistent, primary on-site presence and office at the assigned MSCS high school during the school year while remaining available to serve additional Agape clients at Agape offices, partner locations, community sites, client homes, or through approved telehealth services, as assigned and clinically appropriate.

Collaborate regularly with school administrators, school counselors, school social workers, teachers, student-support teams, Agape staff, and community providers to coordinate services while maintaining applicable confidentiality requirements and professional boundaries.

Develop and present psychoeducational workshops, prevention programming, and mental health resources for students, caregivers, school personnel, and other individuals served by Agape.

Collect, maintain, and submit accurate caseload, service-delivery, referral, demographic, and outcome data required for VCIF grant monitoring, evaluation, compliance, and reporting.

Prepare reports and provide regular program updates to the Director of Clinical Services regarding service delivery, trends, barriers, outcomes, and emerging client needs.

Participate in clinical supervision or consultation, Multi-disciplinary team meetings, staff meetings, in-service trainings, and approved professional-development activities.

Participate in Agency functions, including community-awareness activities, advocacy initiatives, fundraising events, and other approved events as requested.

Uphold the ethical standards of the employee’s clinical profession and comply with all applicable laws, licensing requirements, Agency policies, MSCS procedures, grant requirements, and confidentiality standards while supporting Agape’s faith-centered mission and values.

Maintain positive, professional, and effective working relationships with clients, caregivers, MSCS personnel, community partners, and Agape staff. Serve as an advocate for Agape Child & Family Services and the individuals and communities served.

Perform other duties consistent with the scope of the position as assigned by the immediate supervisor or a member of the Agape Leadership Team. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.

Prolonged walking and standing, and climbing stairs within churches, schools, and community sites. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time. Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.

Grant Funding Disclosure: This position is funded through a time-limited grant. Employment beyond the stated 12-month term is contingent upon continued funding, program needs, and satisfactory job performance and is not guaranteed. Starting Salary Range: $50,000 - $56,500Qualifications: Education and Experience Minimum Mandatory Requirements (Required) Education: Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or another related clinical discipline.

Licensure: Current, independent clinical license in the State of Tennessee in good standing, such as LPC, LPC-MHSP, LCSW, or LMFT. Associate or temporary licenses do not meet the requirements of this position. (required) Experience: At least one (1) year of post-licensure clinical counseling experience preferred.

Experience providing school-based, adolescent, trauma-informed, or crisis-intervention services is strongly preferred. Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma, behavioral health, and community-based mental health resources. Ability to provide individual and group counseling to a diverse client population.

Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated proficiency with electronic documentation systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality while collaborating with school personnel, caregivers, community providers, and Agape staff. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends when required for client engagement, school events, or Agency activities.

Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and current automobile insurance with acceptable coverage levels.
