Key Responsibilities

The Contract Hospice Physical Therapist conducts home-based visits to hospice patients, focusing primarily on comfort, safety, and function preservation at the end of life rather than rehabilitation. Key duties include performing initial assessments, developing comfort-centered therapy plans in collaboration with the hospice team, and educating patients and caregivers on positioning and safety strategies.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a current, unrestricted Physical Therapist (PT) license in South Dakota and have graduated from an accredited PT program, with a minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred. A strong understanding of hospice philosophy and the ability to shift focus from restorative goals to comfort-focused interventions are essential.
