Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse

Salt Creek Surgery Center is seeking a qualified Pre-operative/PACU nurse to administer diligent care to outpatients via monitoring, assessment, intervention and continuous reassessment. This position is primarily geared toward Pre-operative but must be willing an able to float to PACU when needed.

Shift Type: 4 days per week; 10 hours per shift

Duties

Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure Assess patients’ post-operative condition Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria Log all findings in patient files Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies. Requirements Skills/Education Requirements: Current Illinois Registered Nurse BCLS and ACLS certifications required Must possess general clinical compentency in acute patient care Must demonstrate ability to gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care Previous ambulatory surgery experience is preferred We offer excellent pay and benefits. Hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Occasional overtime may be required.
