The Respiratory Therapist independently provides respiratory care, pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing to patients in various clinical settings. They are responsible for managing mechanical ventilators, performing patient assessments, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to formulate and adjust care plans.
Candidates must hold an associate or technical degree and possess a current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the NBRC. A valid state license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are also required, along with at least one year of acute care hospital experience.
