Key Responsibilities

Provides basic counseling to help decrease the client’s anxiety and to assure continuity of care.

Prepares for and facilitates psychoeducational group sessions, social skill building, community meetings, and other therapeutic activities.

Implements established behavioral management plans for a program or for individual clients.

Requirements

A minimum requirement includes an Associate's degree in Drug and Alcohol Recovery Counseling, Human Services, or a related field, though a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Psychology is preferred. Preferred experience includes two years in a behavioral health setting and knowledge of the 12-Step Program.
