Key Responsibilities

  • Provides basic counseling to help decrease the client’s anxiety and to assure continuity of care.
  • Prepares for and facilitates psychoeducational group sessions, social skill building, community meetings, and other therapeutic activities.
  • Implements established behavioral management plans for a program or for individual clients.

Requirements

A minimum requirement includes an Associate's degree in Drug and Alcohol Recovery Counseling, Human Services, or a related field, though a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Psychology is preferred. Preferred experience includes two years in a behavioral health setting and knowledge of the 12-Step Program.
