The Position
2026 Summer Intern - Research Oncology
We are seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern in Immuno-Oncology to join our research team focused on T cell biology, next-generation immunotherapies and immune engagers. This internship offers hands-on experience in cutting-edge translational research aimed at harnessing and redirecting the immune system to treat cancer.
The intern will work closely with experienced scientists in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment and contribute to projects that directly inform the development of novel therapeutic modalities.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.
The Opportunity
Collaborate work with a team of scientists to design, execute and interpret experiments.
Compile and present work to the greater scientific community at Genentech.
Potential to participate in business critical research.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June 2026.
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
Who You Are (Required)
Required Education
You meet one of the following criteria:
Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree.
Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).
Must have attained a Master's Degree.
Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).
Required Majors: Biology, Cancer Immunology, Immunology, Oncology or related fields.
Required skills:
Experience with flow cytometry, tissue processing and cell culture.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Experience with viral work.
Technical expertise with genome engineering (CRISPR/Cas9) and molecular biology techniques (DNA, RNA, PCR, Western Blotting) is desirable.
Some knowledge of R is preferred.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $33.00 - $46.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
