Corsica River Mental Health Services, Inc. (CRMHS) is seeking a qualified and compassionate psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner to serve as our Medical Director, providing both clinical leadership and direct psychiatric services to clients within our Outpatient Mental Health Clinic (OMHC). For candidates seeking full-time employment, this role may also include providing psychiatric services as a prescriber on our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team.
Option 1 – Part-Time (20 hours/week)
Medical Director Only
This option includes both clinical leadership responsibilities and direct outpatient psychiatric services within the OMHC.
Option 2 – Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Medical Director (20 hours/week) + ACT Program Prescriber (20 hours/week)
This option combines outpatient psychiatric services and agency-wide clinical leadership with direct patient care on the ACT team.
Position Summary
The Medical Director provides direction and oversight for medical and clinical staff while also evaluating, diagnosing, and treating clients, including prescribing medication and coordinating behavioral health care. This role ensures high-quality, culturally competent services and compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. For full-time candidates, the role additionally includes direct psychiatric services within the ACT program using a multidisciplinary, community-based treatment model.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Director (All options)
Provide clinical leadership and oversight for medical and clinical staff
Establish and maintain standards of care, diagnosis, treatment, and prescribing practices
Provide supervision and performance evaluations for prescribers as assigned
Serve as preceptor for psychiatric nurse practitioner students
Participate in agency leadership, management, and clinical meetings
Support recruitment, training, and professional development of clinical staff
Provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and crisis intervention services (on-site and/or telehealth)
Ensure compliance with EHR documentation standards, CRISP, CMS/Meaningful Use, HIPAA, and Maryland regulations
Maintain required billable hours and productivity expectations
Coordinate care with primary care providers and community partners
Plan for continuity of medication management during scheduled absences
ACT Program Prescriber (Full-Time Option Only)
Provide psychopharmacologic treatment and medication management for ACT clients
Conduct monthly assessments of symptoms, medication response, and side effects
Provide brief therapy and medication education using shared decision-making
Participate in daily ACT team meetings proportionate to assigned hours
Collaborate with Team Leader, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members
Coordinate care with inpatient providers during hospitalizations
Provide psychiatric backup to the ACT program after hours and on weekends as assigned
Assist with crisis response and stabilization services
Complete all documentation in accordance with COMAR, Meaningful Use, and agency policies
Maintain client confidentiality and required productivity standards
Provide services in community-based settings
Additional Requirements
Meet CRMHS credentialing and privileging standards
Strong collaboration, communication, and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
Computer proficiency for EHR documentation
Pass agency background check
Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
Use of personal vehicle with minimum 100/300/50 liability coverage when required

Requirements
Medical Director must have formal training as a Nurse Practitioner with Psychiatric Mental Health specialty or a Medical Doctor with Psychiatry specialty, licensed under Health Occupations Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, able to practice legally in Maryland.
Education & Licensure Requirements
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP/APRN) or Medical Doctor (MD/DO) with Psychiatry specialty
Licensed to practice in the State of Maryland
Board certified by a national body
Professional Liability Insurance required
Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness strongly preferred
