RN Staff - PACU/SDP - position is located in Nursing Service at the WRJ location. This position is full-time at 40

The Peri-Operative RN demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
Works in partnership with patients and team members for effective disease and care management.
Uses the nursing process and evidence-based practice to collaborate with Specialty Providers, sister facilities, VISN Staff, PACT teams, Community Care, and expanded team (family/caregiver, internal and community-based services involved in providing care to the patient) to provide patient-driven care.
Responsible for collaborating with services internal and external to the VA to facilitate care transition in order to effectively meet patients' needs.
Educate patients and family on pre-operative preparation and post -operative care to include but not limited to, Surgical site infections (SSI), Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI), Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSI)
Demonstrates leadership by serving as an advocate for patients, and a team leader with colleagues as she/he continues to enhance his/her own and the team's professional growth, development, and practice.
Identifies factors impacting the patient's upcoming procedure
Obtain a Comprehensive patient health history
Obtain a complete history including system review
Obtains all preoperative testing results
Identifies issues that may impact patient's surgical plan and communicates accordingly
Maintains up-to-date documentation of nursing care provided to ass
