Job Description

Supports and inspires the journey to nursing excellence and maintaining Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of all applicable regulatory standards and ensures compliance with regulations and maintains survey-readiness at all times. Practices within the NP scope of practice pursuant to standardized procedures and follows policies, protocols, techniques, guidelines, standardized procedures and state and federal regulations. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Master of Science Degree in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) and completion of NP curriculum required. If hired as an NP prior to 2005 then a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is acceptable. Minimum three years of experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting or in a sub-specialty clinic environment required. Minimum one year of experience in area of NP specialty preferred.

Able to: distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place and patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license and California Nurse Practitioner Certificate required (certification pending/in process acceptable). If hired after February, 2021, National certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.

Key Responsibilities

The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with a supervising physician to perform medical/surgical procedures for specialty populations, providing age-specific medical management and coordinating patient care consistent with standardized procedures. Responsibilities include conducting physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, documenting care in the electronic medical record, and keeping patients and families informed about the plan of care.

Requirements
